Dredging operations has commenced at Hong Kong’s Hung Hom Fairway, and will be carried out for a period of approximately one month until mid-May, a notice from the Hong Kong Marine Department said.<\/p>\n

The dredging works are within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D): (A) 22\u00ba17.553′ N 114\u00ba11.024′ E, (B) 22\u00ba17.489′ N 114\u00ba11.039′ E, (C) 22\u00ba17.475′ N 114\u00ba10.962′ E, and (D) 22\u00ba17.539′ N 114\u00ba10.947′ E.<\/p>\n

The works are being carried out by one grab dredger and one hopper barge. One tug and one workboat provide assistance.<\/p>\n

The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.<\/p>\n

A working area of approximately 50 m around the dredger and barge were established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights were laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the dredger and barge.<\/p>\n

A silt curtain, extending from the sea surface to the seabed, were established within the working area. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments. Yellow markers fitted with yellow flashing lights were laid to mark the extent of the silt curtain.<\/p>\n

The working hours are from 07:00 h to 23:00 h. Vessels employed for the dredging will stay in the working areas outside the working hours.<\/p>\n
