{"id":707,"date":"2014-10-02T09:17:14","date_gmt":"2014-10-02T09:17:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/seafarersrights-over.temp-dns.com\/?p=707"},"modified":"2014-10-02T09:17:14","modified_gmt":"2014-10-02T09:17:14","slug":"right-to-good-quality-food-and-drinking-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seafarersrights.org\/right-to-good-quality-food-and-drinking-water\/","title":{"rendered":"Right to good quality food and drinking water"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Under the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (\u2018MLC\u2019):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A seafarer has the right to good quality food and drinking water provided under regulated hygienic conditions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Food and drinking water must be of appropriate quality, nutritional value and quantity, taking into account the requirements of the ship and the differing cultural and religious backgrounds of seafarers on the ship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Food must be free of charge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time and fully qualified cooks are not always required.
