{"id":21172,"date":"2019-07-05T13:04:08","date_gmt":"2019-07-05T12:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/seafarersrights.org\/?p=21172"},"modified":"2019-07-05T13:04:08","modified_gmt":"2019-07-05T12:04:08","slug":"new-report-identifies-latest-seafarer-training-trends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seafarersrights.org\/new-report-identifies-latest-seafarer-training-trends\/","title":{"rendered":"New Report Identifies Latest Seafarer Training Trends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-21173\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/MarTID-survey-232x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seafarersrights.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/MarTID-survey-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/seafarersrights.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/MarTID-survey-21x27.jpg 21w, https:\/\/seafarersrights.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/MarTID-survey.jpg 399w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 232px) 100vw, 232px\" \/>A new report from WMU collaboration, MarTID, reveals that expenditure on maritime training continues to rise for vessel owners and seafarers; new safety and environmental regulations are driving seafarers training trends; and the prospect of ship autonomy is entering the discussions on future seafarer training.<\/p>\n<p>The 2019 report tracks contemporary training issues, including issues regarding training operating budgets, and also delivers findings on the perspectives of seafarers, shipping companies and training institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, SRI Advisory Board Member and President of the World Maritime University, welcomed the report stating: \u201cFor all stakeholders involved in the maritime industry, especially those who manage, deliver and\/or assess the training of seafarers, as well as those who benefit from the competency and optimum performance of seafarers, the outcome of the 2019 survey, the patterns they reveal and the insights they afford, should be of tremendous interest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>MarTID reports are free and distributed widely on the MarTID website to reach a global audience. The surveys draw on insights from shipowners and operators, maritime education and training institutions and seafarers.
