Lloyds List 29 March:<\/strong><\/em> SEAFARERS are in danger of facing traumatic conformations with the people they rescue at sea, the International Chamber of Shipping has warned after a bunkering tanker was hijacked by migrants in the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n

The 846 dwt Turkey-flagged bunkering tanker\u00a0El Hiblu 1<\/em>\u00a0was heading towards Tripoli when it rescued around 108 migrants stranded in the Mediterranean Sea on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

While heading towards Libya to disembark the migrants and refugees, it was hijacked by some of those passengers who forced the crew to change course and head towards Europe.<\/p>\n

The government of Malta said in a\u00a0statement\u00a0<\/a>that the captain of the vessel told the country\u2019s armed forces that neither he nor the crew were in control of the vessel, and that they were \u201cbeing forced and threatened by a number of migrants\u201d around 30 miles off Malta.<\/p>\n
